Drop off times are flexible. Once children have arrived they get to have free choice time in the main classroom. The workbench is one of the favorite choices.
We get ready to go outside no matter the weather. Then we get to spend an hour on the nature based playground. Mud kitchen, sand pit, obstacle course, and so much more.
We practice our days of the week, months of the year, and talk about the weather.
We take a short hike to a nearby farm to help with feeding, water, and collecting eggs.
We have a small wooded area that everyone enjoys exploring. We build forts, mazes, use tools and more.
We get ready for lunch, provided by the playschool, sometimes cooked over a campfire.
Students can choose an area in the main classroom to play. Some choices include dramatic play costumes, block building, sensory table, and more.
Each week has a different theme and we use hands on learning materials based around that theme to practice letters, numbers, and name writing.
We have many books that go with our theme for the week. We practice retelling the story, sequencing, and create emergent readers. Lots of super cute art projects too.
Children do not have to nap but we do have thirty minutes of "Rest" time everyday. Sometimes rest time is in the hammock village or tent other times we use a sleeping bag inside.
We provide snack and sometimes we get to make something special as a group.
Weather permitting and if they aren't still sleeping:) we head back outside for more nature based play.
